Robbert Jan Sougé (1964) is a Director at NIBC, responsible for NIBC’s corporate finance and asset finance activities for the US-, European- and Scandinavian shipping industry. In this capacity, he arranged, structured and executed numerous senior- and mezzanine ship finance transactions for reputable Dutch and international ship owners.
Before joining NIBC, Robbert Jan – as Commercial Director with Anthony Veder (‘AV’) – was primarily responsible for developing and executing AV’s commercial strategy; marketed and concluded numerous COA- and Time Charter Agreements with Oil Majors and traders for the AV controlled fleet of LPG tankers world-wide and initiated and successfully executed the AV Pool-concept with two Owners joining as Pool participants.
Before Anthony Veder, Robbert Jan worked for ING Bank Shipping in Rotterdam and for Nedlloyd Lines, the liner shipping division of the Nedlloyd Group, in Rotterdam and Paris.
In his 20 year experience in Shipping, Robbert Jan developed and maintained a broad network of international ship owners, European ship brokers, European shipping banks and shipping lawyers.
Robbert Jan holds a Bachelor in Business Administration from Nijenrode, Netherlands School of Business, and a Master in Business Economics from the Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
